Anyone from around the Grand Rapids MN area ?
Looking for a sea plane training to take a discovery flight.

Not sure who could ever get that confused.

Some people confuse the state abbreviations. I had someone once ask if I was from Missouri, when they saw the MI. (not here, somewhere else)

That's one that's always amazed me. Like how can you be so stoopid not to know the state's abbreviations??

...if you grew up in the US at least.

It was amazing the amount of mail we received addressed to Harrison, AK when we lived in Arkansas. And not just individuals, quite a few businesses too.

Yes. And I still don't understand why kiddo asked the question. :dunno:

Cause he's flown with me, and maybe didn't know Grand Rapids, MN actually existed. I dunno, ask him. :D

He asked MN or MI.
The OP had already specified MN. Twice.

It's like flyingron in the PDF thread.
I'm thinking maybe it's become a thing.

Clarification? He didn't actually spell out Minnesota.

Thanks! Now I know which one of my friends to ask if he knows of anyone who does this in Minnesota.

Because Grand Rapids, Minnesota has a population of <11,000 and Grand Rapids, Michigan has a population of > 585,000.

People screw up state abbreviations all the time. I wanted clarification since I know pilots in BOTH states and wanted to make sure I was asking the right person about the right location.

And even a broken clock is right twice a day. I was looking for clarification.

So... You why aren't you still flummoxed by his response?. ;)

I would think we would just have given the OP the benefit of the doubt and focused on MN from the get go and gave him relevant info based upon that rather than making this a thread about state abbreviations. Yeah, I do realize that I am just adding to it but geesh, the guy wrote MN so provide info based upon that.

That being said, I know that there are some seaplane training schools in MN, here are a couple. I cannot personally speak to how good they are.

Now if you do not mind heading over to Cumberland WI, here is where I got my ASES at and I can definitely recommend it.

Sandi Randall is the owner/CFI and in my opinion does an excellent job.
Cumberland airport (KUBE) is just 120NM from KGPZ.

...and if you DO go to Cumberland, WI, you are doing yourself a great dis-service if you do not go into Louie's Finer Meats. Get a pack of hunters sausage; it is wonderful.

(edit: hunter's sausage isn't "sausage"; it's like beef jerky, you don't cook it, just eat it)

I heard about that place and meant to stop in before I left but I forgot. Maybe next time.
