So what's preventing that from happening now, when it has happened before?

Because GAMI started down that path and had intellectual property stolen.

To my understanding it is available to purchase right now. $6.99/gal. That is anywhere from $1.50/gal more than 100LL to the same price as 100LL depending on where you buy in the Bay Area. Definitely not as expensive as anticipated. Time will tell if economies of scale bring the price down.

That’s behind us, as there is an unleaded fuel, G100UL, that the FAA has already approved for every piston engine airplane in the fleet.

The issue now is getting it to market, and that’s entangled in politics.
