Good news used aircraft prices are up,:wink2: bad news some aircraft are still only worth about half of what they were 7 or 8 years ago.:(

Actually, I think it's good for both, the market is recovering on a lot of assets, including real estate. A market that keeps declining will keep buyers out of the market, cause it will be cheaper next month or next year. A little uptick, brings buyers off the sidelines, it's happening in real estate around me right now. Prices are up, supply is tight and houses are selling, still not at 2006-7 prices, but a lot higher than 2008-9! :D
I've gotten two letters this week wanting to buy a Conquest I, so somethings happening. :D

Good news for sellers.

For buyers, not so much.

It's about time, buyers will start to enter the market, before prices get to high.

Just because prices are going up doesn't mean aircraft are selling. I have seen the same ones on Barnstormers and in TAP for months. There are more aircraft for sale than there are pilots to buy them.

I was just looking on Controller and pleased to note that even with all the discussion about the glut of twins on the market, prices have indeed gone up on 55 Barons since I bought mine a year ago.

100% Correct.

Most definitely model dependent. I too have seen some Twin Comanches and 310s that haven't budged in a year, while the Baron market has most definitely been moving.

Quality, desirable airplanes will always move up first. Twins have been so cheap, that for less than $100K, you can buy a pretty nice light twin, and like singles, people value the Beech products more than similar Cessna and Piper airplanes.;)

Most of the **** on the internet is...****. The good stuff doesn't hang around long.

Now if we can just get gas prices to go down.

I have to agree at least on the websites I check them every few days and it is interesting to see them come and go. When they go you tend to think they sold but then a month later the same plane pops on again asking the same ridiculously high price.

I had actually noticed the same. I bought my Aerostar with run out engines for not very much. Now as I'm finalising the overhaul of the engines (to the tune of a cool $85K), I've noticed that the current value is very close to what I paid for it + the overhaul cost. Normally that's not the case - don't they always tell you to buy the plane that's already done up and has low time engines? Well, in this case values must have shifted.

I'm sure it won't last.

not to pee on anyone's happy parade, but where are you getting the information that prices are up? The Vref chart on ASO?

With the ones you are seeing, the seller will often re-list it to make it look like it hasn't been sitting for months. I've seen a few like that on Barnstormers. Then there are some that will be listed for a while with no takers, then the ad will get pulled for a while and the seller will try again a few months later. Courtesy has a 310 like that that the owner has been trying to sell for well over a year.

I'm just noting an up-trend in asking prices on the various websites. By no means scientific, but a sign that sellers in at least some markets are not as disparate. At least that seems to be the case for Barons. Also fewer Barons are for sale right now as compared to a year ago when I was in the market.

inflation? running at +1.6 since one year ago? I agree wages aren't moving as well

Availability of Ethanol-free gas is a problem too. My nearest dealer who sells ethanol-free gas aims at boaters, so he sells 89 octane (R+M/2). This is not enough for me. But the next nearest dealer is so far away, that bringing a 20 gallon can of gas in my jeep costs the same as refueling my airplane with 100LL, due to jeep's fuel burn. Da maaaath!
