Apparently, there is no pink slime. So, you now have something to shut up the fast food haters with when they start in on that..

Thanks for the post, feel much better now.

What if I told you it was all actually just chicken, beef, and potatoes in the chicken sandwich, burgers, and fries. What if I told you that people just get fat because they eat too much not because there's anything wrong with the food.

Good to see the petroleum based anti foam additive is still present. I hate when McNuggets foam in the fryer.

I like how there are basically three exactly similar shapes to all mcnuggets. Just like they're all ground out of a giant machine somewhere.

Four shapes, amusingly, that's enough to make most people (even when they come at least six to a box in anything other than happy meals) that they're random.

Frankly, they're pretty tasteless carriers for whatever sauce you're dipping them in. You might was well just eat the french fries.

It's 2014. Do you really still believe this?

I'd have to ask you if you are being serious or being facetious.
There is way more than just chicken, beef and potatoes in there. And there are many reasons people get fat besides simply eating too much. The big thing is eating too much of the wrong stuff. But in this world of GMO and high fructose corn syrup and changing recommendations, I don't think anyone has the answer of what is good or bad. Oat bran? Eggs? Wheat? It depends on who you listen too. And it depends on our own body and metabolism.
But you already knew that.

What's wrong with high fructose corn syrup? GMOs?

So if I understand you, it's not that people eat too much and that makes them fat, it's that they eat too much and that makes them fat?

The basic ingredients sound fine, until you drop them into a vat of molten lard.

It's kind of like hot dogs. I don't want to know what's in them.

I've seen the original offending pink slime picture. McDonald's rebuttal looks no better at all.

I dunno, I grew up on a farm in about the most agriculturally oriented part of IL you can imagine. We raised beef cattle, corn all around us(I still make most of my living off corn but not directly). I hunt and have slaughtered my own meat many times and the only reason I mention this is that I'm looking at these things everyone is saying "eeeeew" over and I'm thinking "what? It's just meat being processed on a larger industrial scale. That's what it looks like, what's the problem?

I have what are basically organic chickens in a coop out back, just wasn't worth it to get them "certified". They look the same if you kill, pluck, and grind them up. Oh and what an organic chicken eats and what they drop their eggs into is more stomach turning than anything in a factory.

Sorry if I seem a little ranty about this, I've just had one too many people from the city who likely have never seen a real farm animal in their lives try to tell me about where my food comes from.

I know fast food isn't health food. It's fatty or salty and fried, of course it isn't health food. My only point is if you bought the same kind of ingredients from the grocery store and made the same kind of food it's not really any better for you. Just don't eat it all the time.

You sound pretty nieve about food in America despite living and working on a farm. I have lived on a farm (for a time) as well but understand that to feed the globe much must be done to get the food to last to market and get it to price points the world can afford. The chicken in your coop may look like what's in the grocery store but I assure you there are plenty of things that seperate it and make it less healthy.

If you have access to NetFlix I suggest you check out "Food, Inc". It's a documentary that would be illegal to make today as the food industry has gotten laws passed making it illegal to film food production. Why would they do that? FOOD production isn't transparent??? We eat that stuff for gods sake...why the secret?

Anyway, here's a little taste of Food, Inc to get you started. I double dog dare you to seek out and watch the whole thing. Again, it's free on NetFlix...you must know someone with it.

Here's another with the maker of Food,Inc. I haven't watched it yet. It's 58 minutes long. Enjoy...

It's ground meat. Do you eat hamburgers? No difference.

Beef similarly ground to the point of liquification is similarly nasty. No I don't like hotdogs and I've never cared for mcnuggets. I mean I'll eat both but most def not my fav.

I drove down the hill to the busy street to get some, but I could not bring myself to follow through with my big plan, so I went to Guss's and got a torpedo instead.

I've never had a chicken McNugget, this thread makes me want to try them.

Do they taste good?

I used to like them, but haven't had one in 10 years. I doubt I would like them if I tried one again. At the very least, the texture would probably be offputting.

Interesting factoid: they're flavored with beef.
