Topic says it all. If it ain't one thing, it is another.

How much am I going to get screwed on this?

Are you sure you did not accidently push the vol knob? I did it years ago on one of my early flights with the 530.

I did. And then I pushed it again. And again. And again. Nothing.

I went to the installation guide thing and changed the squelch settings there.... tried both 00 and 63.... and they both didn't engage the squelch on any frequency.

You don't, by chance, have a cheap cell phone or ipad charger plugged into your cigarette lighter, do you?

Single price repair.
$1,000 if it is dual volt.

Garmin RMA must be obtained through an Authorized Garmin Aviation Service Center. The GNS 530 28V only is no longer able to be repaired. The GNS 530 14/28V is still repairable. WAAS upgrade may be available for the GNS 530 28V - see your Garmin Aviation Service Center for options.

Ugh. 1/3 the price of WAASing it.

Here's a question for you. Do you foresee still owning that thing in 2020? If the answer is yes, then WAAS it. If no, then repair the unit and sell the damn thing before 2019. You've already demonstrated the financial ability to maintain airplanes much more capable than a cherokee 140, you might as well have that capability to show for your troubles.
