Future Pilot

Lol! Kid knows his stuff. Met an autistic kid at a PR event once. Knew more about our helo than some pilots! :)

Taking that kid ,on a young eagles flight, could be a challenge.

You could blow the Wingstores on a AH-1 even with the battery disconnected...which is SOP at a static displays for most...That and an eight year old boy...

Is it a mechanical emergency release that doesn't use electrical power?

Only thing on an H-60 that works with the batt off, is fire fighting. Blowing the hook and wing stores requires batt on and DC essential energized.

It was a stray voltage problem and unless you pulled circuit breakers in the back seat and in the fuselage it was hard to say it was safe...it did not take much...AH-1's always had signs on them in the hanger letting you know if the jettison cartridges were installed are not and if it was any length of time they had to be removed...Also one of the reasons the cover was finally safety wired shut. I seem them blow by simply turning the master arm on...not routine but common enough...
