One of my co workers went to sit down after doing "God knows what" and she said (loud enough for me to hear) "Okay time to get to work" It's about time! She also enjoys Laughing sparatically and when I've asked "what's funny" she never tells me. Looking forward to vacation!

Anyone else hear fun stuff from co workers? Sort of a vent thread.. :)

The other night at work in the theatre I hear this on the crew headset:

Stage manager: "Oh this is going to be a long show." A minute later, "Yep this is going to take forever."
The assistant stage manager on the deck keys her mic and completely seriously says "I can pull the fire alarm if you like."

I get a kick out of those two. They are absolutely hilarious nearly every single day - individually and together. Sometimes we are laughing so hard we can barely do our jobs.

Tech loops during shows are an endless source of amusement. The two-fold goal is to make someone else laugh without laughing yourself.

Around here, mostly to combat those folks who jump into things they should stay out of, they get told, "Know your role and shut your hole."

I wasn't there, but it was legend in the San Francisco video community, heard over the crew intercom during the taping of a Catholic Mass - "His drag is exquisite but I think his purse is on fire"

The cheap seats are out in the house where the paying public sits. If you want real entertainment, you must be crew..or set build..preferably both.

Tech loops are awesome. Enough said about that...

My whole day is a tech loop in IM.

[E-mail to team shows up with whatever dumb request...]

IM between engineers: "You see what that moron just asked for? You owe me $5. I knew that was coming."

Today's was...

Other engineer: "Don't our developers know how to type?"

Me: "You know better. I got over that a decade ago. I just add a CNAME."

OE: "I can't do that. It goes against my principals that you need basic typing ability or you shouldn't be coding production software here."

Me: "Good luck with that, I'll just add a CNAME to DNS."

OE: "You're just making it worse and not helping them, you know."

Me: "They're too old to be educated and I don't have time today. Take a run at it if you like. CNAME added."

OE: "I might not tell them right away. I just can't."

Me: "LOL. Your call."

... in reference to the need to type a long server name and fully qualified domain name to get to a particular Database server outside the main domain, and security scope.

I used to work for a powersports dealer, and I sold retail. Every year we had a really awesome stand at the local fair, showcasing new models, sales specials, etc. It was important to get out and mingle with the public, but I will never forget some of the questions that fair-goers would ask.

-In reference to the tires on a new ATV: "Hey, it says there on the side "Flotation Tire". Does that mean this thing floats if I drive it into the lake?"

-In reference to a Suzuki Bandit: "My buddy told me this thing has a 12-speed tranny like my truck. Just hit the splitter after 6th gear, and you got yourself another 6 gears!" I respond "I'm sorry sir, but I'm not aware of any motorcycle that has that kind of transmission. They're all pretty much the same...one down, and four or five up." Customer says "Man, you don't know what the hell you're talkin' about. I told you my buddy says this things got a 12-speed transmission! Ain't there somebody here knows 'bout these things better n' you do?"

-Customer comes strolling into the display...
"Hey, I need a part for my four wheeler. You sell them?"
"We sell ATV's and parts, yes."
"Well I need that part that goes on top of the engine. Do you have it?"
"Could you be more specific? Do you know the name of the part? Or what type of ATV you have?"
"It's red...(long uncomfortable silence)"
"Do you know that make or model?"
"The what?"
"The brand...Honda? Yamaha? Kawasaki? Suzuki?"
"I bought it a few months ago, I paid about $500 for it. Don't you know which one it is?"

:mad2:

We did that once. Not on purpose. It seems one of the stagehands got a little carried away with the fog machine during Fruma Sarah's scene. Looked really cool until the fire strobes went off.

I used to sit across from 2 women with toddlers at work.

Every day there was a new story about where their kid had managed to get poop and how much.

"His drag is exquisite but I think his purse is on fire"

I almost hurt myself laughing, while at the same time having an overwhelming need to go to confession. I'll be telling that one.
