I have a handful of old gauges I have bought and display them for ambience I guess.
Anyway, I saw this one and thought it was pretty neat. I believe it s from a P-47.

It shows both flap and gear on the aircraft.

I have been playing with it just now with a battery and some wires. I can trigger all the moving parts.
I am going to mount it in a wooden box and put a battery in it.

I am going to add switches to simulate flaps and gear.

Anyway just a quirky little thing I found on the antique plane stuff for sale FB page.

I thought the "fun gauge" was a broken Hobbs meter.

No it isn't when you're renting a plane for a long XC, and the owner says afterwards he's adding 20% on top of tach hours...

(First thing I did in my own plane was I made the ripoff meter INOP).

Pretty neat! I've never seen anything along those lines.

I thought it was the G meter.

So it tells you that the wings have come off at high g's? Heck, I don't need a gauge for that!:eek:

If you've got kids, you've witnessed it around Christmas time! :)

So too far into the H red arc puts you in the L red arc? What if you are too far into the L red arc?

Not to derail the new direction of the thread, but cool idea Bryan! Why not use a transformer, though? Then you won't have to change batteries.

Because I don't know what that means... What does that mean? It would plug in?

Also the seller said to run a blacklight over the gauge because I forget. Some radio active crap glows or something.

Yes, "plug in". Remember to rub it for good luck. They used to make watches with that stuff

That's right what did they call those ladies??? I recall reading about them very toxic stuff and they mostly got radiation poisoning...

Saw the passenger side of the Port of Miami closed down by an antique compass with that stuff on the dial.

Freaked the powers that be out pretty good when the owner of said compass tripped the radiological sensors.

Smile and wave for the news chopper.

If you run a blacklight over it, you may not want to touch it again. Google blacklight and bodily fluids.
