I had the privilege of flying our gyroplane (The Predator) in the Cable Air Show this last weekend.
My wife took some nice pictures and I would like to share a few.
It is amazing to me that Ed can even find me in the big sky with her camera.
I am proud to be associated with such a wonderful event.
A great time was had by all.
That is snow on the mountains above Upland, California.
The flights down and back from Santa Maria was very cold in the open cockpit of The Predator.

Awesome! I've wanted to fly a gyrocopter ever since Pilotwings64. That was a lot time ago.

Me too. Those things look really cool. Not terribly practical where I live, but someday...

The Predator is not very practical. The 149 nautical mile flight took 2.2 hours and burned almost 14 gallons of 100 low lead. I only have 22 gallons on board so the range is limited.
If I climb up to 7,500 feet she will run along at 95kts but that is not as much fun as low and slow.
The fun is the maneuverability and being able to land just about anywhere.
I love to feel the air on my face and smell the different smells.
The ocean air feels and tastes wonderful.
The LA smog doesn’t smell or taste quite as good.

Do you have a schedule of upcoming airshows you'll be flying?

It was good seeing you Monday Vance. I can tell you all now that it was chilly in Santa Paula as he was leaving.

Nice to see you too.
It was a lot colder on the way down Friday morning.
I wanted to be at Cable for the pilots briefing at 11:00 so I left a 38 degree SMX at 8:00.
I love the way the air feels after a rain and the hills are starting to green up.
I didn't notice the cold Monday because I was overwhelmed with the flight experience.
I had on four layers and gloves.
