Four arrested for doing the Jim Campbell off 1WTC

Looks like he had a half twist on opening and ended up facing the tower - that had to be a little exciting.

No no no. Jim Campbell was a failure, arrested trying to jump the tower, not after successfully jumping. Big big difference. And NYers are now a bunch of sissies when I used to jump there it was really hard to get arrested, even when you got caught.

Things are a little sensitive in that area of town. You can get arrested for farting at ground zero.

Its also illegal to fart in a church in NYC....

Someday, after a few hundred meetings, along with half a million or so dollars spent on studies, perhaps they might consider that the hole in the fence should be fixed.

That is assuming of course that they can get a grant from the DHS, and clearance from the EPA, Coastal Commision and the Teamsters, to do that.

FWIW, Owen Quinn was the first guy to jump from one of the original WTC towers. I remember he was the cover story on Spotter magazine that month in 1975.

Seems like an excessive amount of punishment just to keep someone from taking a risk.

"The Port Authority joins the NYPD in condemning this lawless and selfish act that clearly endangered the public," Port Authority Chief Security Officer Joseph Dunne said in a statement. "It should be clear that the PAPD and NYPD will go to any length to bring those who defile the WTC site to justice."

What is wrong with these pansies? They must be scared of their own shadows. Public endangerment, desecration? They're lunatics...

Shows the lack of security,in one of the most sensitive areas in the country. Making a arrest after the fact seems a little useless.

We'd expect that the kid would be hauled to Gitmo with no trial, and the last thing anybody would do is fix the security.

Reminds. When I was an alarm man I got a call to printing shop, and after telling them who I was and what I was fixing went in and out a few times tracing the problem. I see a female worker in there watching me and the next thing I get is the boss screaming at me that I can't just be walking around, they print negotiable securities in there and I have to be escorted! I had no idea. So it was my fault that they didn't follow their own security procedures.

The millions of dollars spent studying the problem would probably reveal the hole in the fence can't be closed because it's a vital animal migration route for some species of New York rat.

'doing the Jim Campbell' is spewing psychotic rants and passing yourself off as something you are not (doctor, airline captain, journalist).

What the guys in NY did was a BASE jump.

Don't forget filer of spurious lawsuits.

Jim also passed himself off as a parachute rigger (which he is not) and USPA member (which he might have been, not that they sanction base jumping).
