For the motorcycle guys

Can any one watch that without tilting their head?

Looks like you were cutting those apexes a tad wide.

(Just kidding! Looks like you were having a blast.)

I was guessing you were on something heavy and torquey. You weren't cornering really fast, the engine wasn't revving much and I didn't hear you shifting. That's a tight track for that bike. It would be more at home in a place like Willow Springs where you could really open it up.

It is a VERY tight and technical track and a fairly cold day, so I was enjoying the ride. The track has over 100ft of elevation change as well, the video does not show this well.

What kind of track day was this where you were the only one out there? :)

Takes me back. I used to race in California in the late 90's/early 00's, in WSMC and AFM, as well as track days at the various locations. Willow Springs, Buttonwillow, Sears Point, Thunderhill, even one day at Laguna Seca (what a blast coming off the corkscrew).

Lots of fun, keep it up!

Right after lunch, everybody was kinda milling about when I saw the green course open flag. Suited up and had the track to myself 1st session.

First time you came up on turn 1 I was wondering why you slowed down so much, then I saw the elevation change!

I'm also in love with that sweeper.

Must be nice riding where you don't have to worry about some idiot in a car hitting you.

That, knowing the pavement is clean and secure, and knowing The Man isn't over the next hill with a radar gun. :D

What were your speeds on that run Bill? If you bothered to look at the speedo at all, that is.

Yeah, it's one hell of a challenge to get good lap times on a big bike on a tight track. I bet an EX500 with tricked out suspension could keep up with you there. Your bike is meant for high speed tracks where you can take full advantage of its power.

Nice video. I've been putting off track days for 2 years now. I'm pretty sure that I'll get at least one Road Atlanta next year.

I was only paying attention to the tach, but based on gears and revs:

Slowest corners were in the 35mph range, most corners except for the big sweeper into the straight were mid 50's to mid 60's. Big sweeper maybe 100?

On the straight I pulled to top of 3rd gear, so 130ish?

I am certainly not as brave as I was 20 years ago, I did VIR north course in August, and I was pulling 4th to the top and then just holding (good for about 150). The fast guys were pulling well into the 160's on that straight.

The bike is supposedly good into the 180's, but *I* probably won't ever see those numbers.
