Does anyone have current info on Flying W in NJ. I used to love that place, but last time I was there about 3 years ago, it was a shell of what it once was. I know there were talks about closing it down for condos.

Nothing that current, but it seems they were doing a bit better in 2025, with season passes and such.

Might be worth calling the FBO. They're still around and not an affordable housing development. That's a good thing.

Last time I was there was a couple of months ago. For at least the last few summers the pool has been busy, the bar open, and the airport seemed well maintained. The large restaurant that was in the hotel building has been closed for years. The Paddy Wagon Cafe that was in the FBO building went out of business during the pandemic, but a couple of years ago a new restaurant opened there called Chiangs Cafe (https://www.facebook.com/p/Chiangs-Cafe-61575679274483/). Its facebook page shows recent updates, so it is still open. All in all it probably has more life than most small GA airports.

Heard from an someone with an unconfirmed rumor that the airport was sold to a developer to put up low income housing. This was last week and haven't found the info anywhere else yet, so I'm not sure how valid the info is.

I also heard that is was closing. However N14 (Flying W) still shows up on ForeFlight as open and active.

I just saw a youtube video about 12N, and at the end the guy mentioned that he's a tenant of Flying W and is being evicted.

He mentions Flying W at the 13:42 mark.

Anybody have any other info on this?

Not a whole lot. Only thing the rumor mill is producing right now is that a developer bought the airport from the family that owned it. Don't know anything about the who, when, and what they plan on making as I don't know anyone that's down at the airport. There was an effort by local pilots to try and buy the airport, like Sky Manor, but if the buy out rumor is true then that effort has failed. The hotel and pool have been closed for a while as has at least one of the restaurants (one might still be open under a different owner).

Thanks...those are the rumors that have been around for a while. But the guy in the video saying that he's being evicted caught my attention.
