We’re planning on making OSH this year flying Appleton. Already have reasonable lodging booked, planning on getting a rental car and driving in. It was easier to find a reasonable priced place to stay and more flexibility since we’re bringing a 6yo.
My direct course from home would take me almost over Fisk and pretty close to OSH. Those who are familiar with traffic and ATC flows at this time what’s the best way in- find some waypoint to the west to avoid the entire area? Or would I be good just trying to stay high until I’ve passed over the Oshkosh area? I see Appleton has some recommended procedures that seem to prefer an approach from the west. Speaking of approaches what’s IFR like during this high traffic period? Should I try to fly this VFR as long as weather allows?
We’d be coming in Mon afternoon or evening if that makes a difference.
