Good find!! Shows what stress can do... Cactus 1549 is referred to as "fifteen forty nine", "fifteen thirty nine" (by the flight itself!) and "fiften twenty nine".
Impressed, as always, with the professionalism of all involved, as evidenced in the transmissions. Imagine what the CVR will show, when we get to see that.
Even more audio. Not only was the Aircrew amazing but listen to ATC. This guy was aweswome and needs to be recognized calm and cool and juggle more than just the downed flight. Kudos to that Controller!!
Wow. How come that controller wasn't at the Super Bowl? He never missed a beat.
I love the part where he says that Cactus is cleared for Rwy 1 at TEB and Scully says "We can't do it".
"OK, which runway would you like at Teterburo?"
"We're gonna be in the Hudson".
FCC would not have been very happy with me at that point.
You know, with that accident, the controller sounds just like the ground controller on that famous tape that's been linked here before. And he certainly comes across as stressed (who wouldn't be), but professional. It was good to see the new media actually giving well deserved kudos. Who says that good news isn't newsworthy!?
This is what good controllers do, and ya gotta be good to work New York. Some of you know a TRACON controller saved my bacon in an emergency a few years back, and I got a little deja vu listening to this tape. In retrospect I wish I had asked to hear the tape of my emergency. Kind of curious about the stress level in my voice. (but I can guess )
