I tried logging in to flightaware, and it sent me an email with a code to type in, and after that it asks for another code from my authenticator app, which I don't have. I don't see any place to say 'forgot password'. The site seems more locked down than even my brokerage account.

Mandatory 2FA does seem overkill for that service. I’ve cursed below my breath about it myself.

I think they are less concerned about account stealing/hacking and more concerned with bots and screen scrapers

I use Google Authenticator for the 2FA on FlightAware.

That happened to me a while ago as well. The only solution I found was to create a new account.

I have been having issues with FlightAware as well sometimes, at least at my work desktop where I use it extensively for my job.

Sometimes when they email me the code, I never received the code. Other times, more recently, it would say I put in the wrong code even if it's the correct code they emailed me. Ugh.

I logged into my FA account just now with my user ID and PW. Like many other sites I received a 6-letter code to my email address they have on file and entered that. I was then offered the ability to use a more secure login site. I clicked Not Now and entered the site.

I can't remember saying yes to that, but apparently I did, because I have Duo set up with Flightaware. But the issue is that flightaware is saying my duo code is incorrect. I am logged into flightaware from my home computer, but I tried to delete the multifactor authentication, it is still asking for the code. What a mess! Like I said, even my bank doesn't have this level of security.

Flightaware changed to 2 factor ~last year. Drop them an email. I had apparently set that up then it stopped working. They fixed it in about a day.
