anyone know a source for used certified flight simulators, my fuel burn is about 1$ a minute, a simulator might be cheaper

What level of simulation do you want -- ATD, FTD, full flight sim? What's the purpose -- maintaining IFR recent experience requirements, training for IR? Looking for new glass panel technology, or just steam gauges? What's your budget? Also, keep in mind that you can't log anything on a flight simulation device for FAA purposes without an instructor present.

I hear UAL is trying to get rid of their 747SP simulator. Of course, you could buy a nice used Gulfstream for what that thing would cost to move and install.

UAL does not have a 747SP simulator.

e-bay ATC flight simulators used ATC-510 with ADF around $500. make sure you get tapes and charts . ATC 610 a lot more usable again must have charts and approach plates to go with it tapes not so important with this one.Cost is more around $1,000 used also look for plotter to go with it. They are old simulators but they still work and are a cheaper way to get started and resale prices seem to hold their value. Shipping is another factor they are big units and shipping will cost you. The 510 and 610 had letters of authorization for use from the FAA for currency and time you could log for a rating. Those times and LOA have changed check for the latest use of all simulators.

Those letters will be voided shortly, and they do not meet the FAA requirements for a flight training device under current guidance. I wouldn't put money in one right now until the FAA reevaluates them under the current Advisory Circular.
