http://www.aopa.org/airports/PHNL#businesses has all the FBOs at HNL. The outfit I flew with in 2003 appears to be gone, so I have no recommendations. Have fun, it's a beautiful place to fly. We'll be on Kauai in August. No rentals there. Guess I'll just have to kick back and do nothing for the better part of two weeks.

I'm visiting Oahu right now and just flew a couple trips to the big island in their Travel Air yesterday. Nice folks and flying in/out of HNL was not bad at all. I don't think they have any G1000's, but they do have a decent fleet (about 9 planes ranging from 172 singles to a Travel Air and BE 55 Baron). Rates are on par with anywhere else in Hawaii. If you are just looking to fly with an instructor, they will charge you the club rate vs visitor rate.
Definitely worth checking out.
