You're probably right. From https://www.dfwairport.com/firetrainingschedule/:Probably the fire and rescue folks practicing.
February 2019 Live Fire Schedule
<snip>
Feb 7: 8am - 5pm
I can’t be sure, but I am in a hotel at DFW overlooking the airport and there seems to be a large fire going on what it looks like inside the airport property...
The black smoke caught my eye and I was looking for what caused it. No associated activity on the ground so probably training.Well the airport is open and big birds are flying off and landing... so hopefully a practice run
How long are you in the area? You going to the MS campus right there on the frontage road?
When I ready to depart KLSE several months back I spotted some heavy black smoke down the row a ways. On the ground call to taxi he indicated they were doing Fire & Rescue training, partial taxiway closed, etc. That smoke is really, really black.
Divert man...for your own good. I think Fargo is gone, buried under 300ft of snow with Wind 320@185G735Yah I am at the campus, will leave around 430 and hopefully land in fargo

If you had pinged me last night... yes... but already made plans.Looks like I am not going to fargo tonight, flight got cancelled. Any peeps in DFW want to hang around for dinner?
If you had pinged me last night... yes... but already made plans.
How often are you down this way and when would be the next time?

Friday night is open at this time.... Do you have transportation? And what hotel are you at? And any cuisine preference?Looks like I might be here tomorrow night as well and as it stands right now, my flight is Saturday evening, I will try to change it to Saturday morning though

Texas BBQ at the Coppell Hard8 is good, but the restaurant will be super crowded on Friday night and parking there is lousy. A better alternative is the location 12-15 miles to the west in Roanoke, TX.
Also in Roanoke is Babe's Chicken Dinner House. And Twisted Root Burger.
If you want TexMex, a favorite of the group near KDFW is Esparza's in Grapevine.
Pinging others to see if they can attend. @JCranford @overdrive148 @SixPapaCharlie @Mitch817 @texasag93 @texashikergal02 @Ravioli @SCCutler
Raising the IQ of both places? So I should've mentioned it sooner but I moved to San Antonio this week.
We can hold the "where" decision for a little bit while the others check in.
Well, then that narrows it down someYupp anywhere is fine with me, just gotta have good beef
Well, then that narrows it down some
