Can someone in the forum say what they have found to be the most effective method / materials etc. especially to remove stains on the interior surfaces without fancy / expensive equipment, field overhaul, A&P. email [email protected]
Thank you

What interior surfaces? Vinyl seats? Carpet? Side panels? Upholstered fabric seats? Headliner? Instrument panel eyebrow?

It seems this is about cleaning crankcases, pistons etc?

Find a Gunk tank or someone that does this?

Some chemicals are not compatible with magnesium parts.

Shot blasting?Nope?

Read the complete post, "field overhaul"
I did and have never heard of engine parts during a field overhaul haul referred to as interior and exterior. Nor have I heard of discolored engine parts from heat, sludge and carbon referred to as stains.

It's not difficult to understand the question. He wants advice how to clean his interior without involving a three ring circus. Ideas from the peanut gallery are being solicited.

...without fancy / expensive equipment, field overhaul, A&P.

I thought that was his question as well, but when I asked what parts of his interior he replied “Read the complete post, "field overhaul" .

If he’s not asking about “removing stains” from the interior of his plane, I’m not sure what he is asking.

I’m trying to be helpful but I can’t offer much with “Read the complete post, "field overhaul"

I guess this parts washer would be considered..."without fancy / expensive equipment, field overhaul, A&P" ?
It's the only "fancy" tool that I used for this inspection and the bare bones needed for engine inspection. All the rest is hand tools.
It cleans the exterior and interior of most engines.

Doing it by hand I'd recommend mineral spirits in a sprayer, safe, cheap and effective.
It's what I use in my parts washer.

This is one of the more puzzling posts I've seen.

the most effective method / materials etc. especially to remove stains on the interior surfaces without fancy / expensive equipment, field overhaul, A&P.

My first guess was carpet, seats, door and side panels.

But then there's that "without fancy/expensive equipment, field overhaul, A&P."

If the "field overhaul" wasn't there, I would think you want to clean these stains from "interior surfaces" without expensive equipment or an A&P to disassemble/reassemble everything that you're cleaning.

But the "Field overhaul" throws everything out the window because the only time I've heard that term used (in GA maintenance) is when referring to overhauling an engine. But I've never heard anyone worried about cleaning stains from interior engine surfaces.

Then when someone asks for clarification, you respond with a snarky "read the post".

Not a good way to get an answer.
