Sad. I'm guessing that they didn't have a 406Mhz ELT although judging from the photo I doubt anyone survived the impact.

I landed at Williston about 3 hrs prior to this incident, having diverted from my original intention of Cedar Key due to shifting variable and gusty winds - it was a challenging landing.
There were a couple dozen small GA planes on ramp then for a fly in BBQ.
I hypothesize the crash was only noted by the ? commercial jet the next day perhaps because he was the only one in that period monitoring Guard.
Hard to say...likely would've not mattered to souls on board...very sad loss of a family.

Center was trying to track down an intermittent ELT after the crash.

When I have 2 radios I will monitor 121.5. Late one night I heard an ELT near a mountain, so I reported it. I never found out what became of it.

Lots of GA traffic around X60 that day. Anyone on Guard?

Not understanding the deputy chief's comments:

"For all that traffic, no one thought to call us,” Connolly said."
"This is really a huge complacency issue."

Does this mean he thinks pilots saw the wreck and chose not to bother to call it in?

It was a rather ridiculously ignorant thing to say.
