FAA Proposes SFRA at DJT Airport

(Oh, and IBTL!)

It actually seems a better alternative than establishing a prohibited area like in Kennebunkport.

I agree, this will still allow ATC-cleared flights into PBI to use that airspace. If it is fully restricted, 28R/10L would hardly be usable?

One nuance compared to the DC SFRA is VFR flight plan is an option, not a requirement. One of the dumber things about the DC SFRA is that requirement, since no one you're talking to in ATC can see whether or not it's filed. You just need to be in two way communication for the DJT/PBI version.

It's permanent, like the one in Kennebunkport and the ranch in Texas. Will be there until he moves or is dead
The Kennebunkport, ME and Crawford, TX is for Bush but is there a Prohibited airspace that covers Clinton, Obama, or Biden? Also will the FAA put a Prohibited area around Trump's complex in Bedminister, NJ?

That all depends upon what the SS request. They are in charge of presidential security.

Actually, if all goes well, they can see it. The whole point of the idiotic "gate" concept is that this is where the (pseudo-) IFR SFRA plans get routed. However, ATC has specifically stated that they are NOT the flight plan police. If you claim you filed one and they don't have it, they'll "transponder observed" you anyhow.

Hell, George Washington has been dead for 227 years and there's still a prohibited area over his house.

His house is a national historical landmark. Duh.
And more important than other landmarks in and around DC? Or Jefferson's home (which just asks you to avoid the area), or any number of other places. The truth of the matter is that you don't mess with the Mount Vernon Ladies. They are very politically influential.

Funny in that way before Trump was elected president he sued the Federal Government and Palm Beach County to ban flights over Mar A Lago due to noise complaints.

FAA put in a policy of “Fanning” departures east bound over the Town of Palm Beach.

Basically sent departures over the low income neighborhoods of West Palm Beach.

Other landmarks around DC are already under protected airspace.

Did you remind them of the time you took a swing at the FAA Administrator? ;)

Some, but not others. Everything is in the FRZ now, but the P-56 didn't encompass all of downtown. Used to be able to get a class B clearance and shoot down the south side of the mall for photo shoots.

Nah, I had bigger issues with Marion than that. Besides, we're the best of friends now.

Did you read the Palm Beach Post back then?

In 1985, Donald J. Trump purchased the property from the Post Foundation and used the estate as a private residence until 1995.

That was awhile ago.
