Apparently going for the $100 hamburger has too big a carbon footprint.
STORY.
Now, if it was pancakes instead.......
So maybe Harrison Ford is really a good spokesperson for GA and there is not as much hostility out there as people feared...Not a lot of support in the comments.
Best response:
I'll stop flying my airplane for cheeseburgers when rednecks stop racing cars in a circle for 500 miles with no emissions controls.
Let's see, "EnviroWacko", Pelosi, "myth of man-made global warming", "Chicken-LIttle", carbon tax, Copenhagen, the obligatory exaggerated reference to a Newsweek article from the 70s ... yeah, I guess there might be a little bit of politicizing going on here.I hope this is not a SZ level comment.
Did somebody say pancakes?

I do like that quote, but
[Digress]
it was my understanding that those cars are so well tuned and operating at peak hp that emission controls would not be required.

Thems cars run good old carburetors, jes like God intended.
Probably a bit rich (for power) and sure as heck at high loads. Lots of NOx, Lots of unburned HC and CO. Were I to guess (based on my 30+ years experience with this sort of thing) I would say more than 1000 times as much smog producing stuff as a modern production automobile that was certified against the lowest California emission standards.
Emission controls are not required for NASCAR because the emissions for race cars are not regulated.
