I bought a like-new 8 year old electric three wheel mobility scooter for $200 goes about 5 mph and it sits in the hangar at the moment. Its too slow to rip around on the airport but it DOES tow a Cessna 177 in/out of the hangar pretty well (no snow yet).

I can't get this bug out on my head to find a 50 mph electric moped for my work commute. I could easily leave a wheelchair at work and take such a vehicle the 5 miles.

If I'm not careful I'll be riding motorcycles again :goofy:

I'm assuming you have a medical condition where you need a wheelchair and a mobility scooter?

Does it need to go 50MPH? Would 30MPH be good enough?
The I do work for in MO just bought a electric mobility scooter that does 30MPH has blinkers and lights. He tells me it is lt is streat legal.

Yes I do. What I have been doing is buying cheap wheelchairs off ebay to leave at my destination if its too much hassle to haul or load/unload all the time out of my car. For instance, I leave an old one in the hangar when I'm working on a project since I'm in/out of the hangar frequently. I can just pull up in the car, leaving my good wheelchair loaded, and work on whatever using the oldie chair.

lol wouldn't have to go 50.... but if it does :cool2:

Can you safely ride a two wheeled vehicle?

I don't see why not....if the throttle was on the left.

The complexity of a manual transmission on a conventional motorcycle wouldn't work I don't think.

Hack the speed controller off one of your eBay finds to remove the lower speed restriction.

I seem to recall the original Battle Bots being based on electric wheel chairs. And a few of them were both beefy and fast.

You are going to need at least a few thousand watts to boogie down the highway at 50 mph.

I chcked up on the modle scooter he has. It looks like he was a little off on MPH:D OK a lot off.
More like 8.5MPH and a range of 30 miles.

I've recently taken in a 2004 Civic Hybrid to part out. Bring your tools and I'll work a fair deal for ya.

There is a 5000w motor & spped controller in there.... $1k

The 1000w (brushed) motor & speed controller is $170...

As a data point, my students are using about 2Kw motors and getting about 20 mph on modified scooters.
