EC-121 Super Constellation at Chino airport

My understanding is CNO will be the new home of the Connie. She is scheduled to arrive to CNO at 1200 noon. Since this is following a 7 year restoration I would bet she will remain flyable, therefore be making regular flights.

Disney is evil, daughter will remember her birthday as the day she got to meet the Connie crew and take a tour of the cockpit. :)

Interesting...that would be nice if they keep her flying. Someone on WIX posted that the plane was just being ferried in to be a permanent static display at Yanks and would likely never fly again.

I hope they do keep her in the air!

John Deakin said (on Beechtalk) that it would be placed on static display. I hope that is not true, but certainly expect Planes of Fame to take good care of the aircraft.

John was the last one to fly this plane, by the way.

I don't think it is a PoF airplane. The announcement that Richard posted was made by PoF, but the airplane is actually owned by Yanks. Unlike PoF, Yanks has a history of restoring their airplanes to airworthy condition but not flying them.

This SUCKS......a once in a lifetime event and I'm already committed to celebrating my daughter's birthday at Disneyland on Saturday.

You're daughter will always be there, the Connie will not. But, hey, it's your call.

Some people's priorities???

:D

A little trivia about the Super Connie, their wing beams are notorious for corrosion. The navy grounded all their WV 2's because a landing at Pt.Mugu resulted in #3 engine falling off the wing and taking out the right main gear.

When we opened the leading edges I could not believe the huge amount of white powder we could dig out of the wing beam. 3 of the WV-2s were chopped on the spot, the others were ferried to Davis Monthan for the bone yard. and 1 sets in the Navy's museum at NAS Pensacola.

This is correct. Beats me why there are 2 museums on the same field, especially when one (PoF) proadly boasts of keeping their planes airworthy.

So.....be there at noon tomorrow or just watch the YT videos.
