Cheap they are. Last they don't. I go through them more than escorts go through underwear. I guess they can go through underwear quickly because they can afford expensive lingerie with Leavers Lace indicative to the La Perla line of the nether accoutrements at will.

Where was I going with that. Damn POA got me sidetracked. I am talking about the little earbud things you plug in to your phone or your computer. My last set was Sony, about $20 (nice, but expired in about a year) and currently a $10 set of Panasonic earbuds. They...

work for watching true crime videos on Youtube. They don't work for music. I want bass. Pronounced base, not baaas like the fish. I get the technical quandaries of a small soundbox and low frequency notes. But given that some work better than others.

I'm not quite ready to go La Perla class on earbud mics ($500+) but I'm willing to splurge on more than say, the Target brand of high end undies class.

Any suggestions? I really am not looking for big azz headphones. I want discreet earbuds. Because that is the discreet kind of guy I am, keeping things on the down and low. I want to have my cake and eat it, without actually eating a cake. More like eating a chocolate bar.

Look at Audio Technica or Shure. Multi drivers help. I’ve spent between $80-$100 on them and they are better for music than cheapies. I’m looking at some $800 custom in ears but that’s for stage use as monitors.

I have had good luck with Shure for wired ear buds. I now use wireless ones (Apple in my case) for the convenience but if I wanted best quality and OK with the wires, I'd recommend them as well - can't compare quality across a very wide range but they sound good to me and are very durable.

I never got the hang of earbuds. I either heard nothing out of them or they fell out of my ears. Now that I have hearing aids, I do better (stream direct to them).

I like them but find that some fit me better than others. And the cheap ones, we'll, they sound like cheap ones.

Bose quiet comfort ear buds. Sound quality is phenomenal and they fit perfectly.

I picked up a $10 pair of Skull Candy earbuds at the airport in a pinch one time that were by far the best in-ear wired earbuds that I've had. They had good low-end (bass) performance for being so small. I babied them along for a couple of years of travelling but they finally gave up the ghost with the wire pulling out of the earbud and I have not been able to find a suitable replacement since.

I am now using the $20 Skull Candy wireless ear buds when travelling. They're not too bad if you can get the rubber grommet to seal well in the ear canal, but that's sometimes hit or miss.
