Yes, but the toys are optional.

For a student pilot, a tablet in use in the airplane is a net hazard. It's a huge distraction in the air, with limited utility beyond being a crutch.
 
Another thing... not to rub it in, Marc, but it's important:
The plotter can be a good tool for drawing your course line (along its edge). But it's not going to work too well for that if you have it placed as you do in the picture.
