good morning I would like to be in contact with someone installed the E-mag in the Lycoming.
Thank you
Franco Laganà

I've had one on the O-320 in my RV for 10 years or so. What are your questions?

Hello Franco
Welcome.
I currently own 3 of them and have installed them a few times in Lycoming 340 and 360.

thank you to answer me. I'm installed last year E-mag in the Long EZ with Lycoming O320E2D 150HP, I run 55 hours only, Up to now I'm very satisfied. I installed NGK BR8ES but I don't know how many hours normally they can work. Next service I was thinking to try the NGK BR8EIX. What about maintenance? Just visual control of cable and spark plug up to 100 hours? What is your experience about ?
regards

I use the recommended plugs. I don't remember the model number. Just be aware that there are really two plugs that fall under the designated model number - one has a screw on terminal, one has a fixed terminal. I avoid the screw on terminals.

Regarding maintenance, I replace the plugs annually (that's usually about 70 hours for me), and also pull the Pmag annually to comply with the recommended bearing inspection (they want you to check for lateral and axial play in the shaft that holds the mag gear), reinstall, and re-time. You should also inspect the wiring and manifold pressure tubing and connections.

The NGK plugs @kyleb is referring to are the NGK 3961 BR8ES SOLID. https://a.co/d/4QU2Pjf
When I use those plugs I also replace them with new at annual condition inspection. They are likely good for much longer than 100 hours but they are inexpensive.
My new plane came with NGK 6619 LFR6AIX-11. https://a.co/d/1EdyqCz I like them and will likely check resistance and gap at annual and continue to use them for several hundred hours.

I presume you have the manual which provides guidance on recommended checks at annual:
It provides a resistance spec (ohms) for the wires and plugs. The bearing inspection has a 100 or 500 hour recommended inspection interval depending on serial number or if your emag has received the newer bearing.

Thank you for your answers. I am familiar with the manual, but I wanted to hear from people with more experience. I have only flown 50 hours with E-mag.
I will try the Iridium spark plugs, they should be better.

I ran NGK plugs in my RV-8 with an electronic ignition. Averaging 75 or so hours a year, they showed no wear at all at the CI.

I have dual e mags with auto plugs. I run the ngk ones. I always replace them at annual. I’ve had anywhere from [emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]-[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]] hours on them when replaced. I’ve never had a problem.

I literally pulled, inspected, reinstalled, and re-timed the pmag on my RV in 15 minutes today as part of my condition inspection. Its a pretty easy process.
