How easy is the DTW to transit VFR going N/S?

They will likely have you offset east or west of the airport (depending on your attitude) as they are landing generally from the North or the South and would need to protect the flow. The Detroit controllers are good to work with.

Are you familiar with a Terminal Area Chart and the Fly chart?

The flyways are basically "Stay the **** away from the bravo" routes.
VFR flyways are routes within the lateral boundaries of Class B you can follow to avoid entering class B airspace. Some B airspace extends 30nm from the primary airport. Flying 500 under a shelf isn’t staying away for the Bravo routes.

Heck u could fly this route at the right altitudes and not talk to anyone (non standard sky shapes used here but feel free to kick those up a notch if u know what I’m saying…)

The VFR flyways for DTW aren't exactly tucked under the 2500 foot shelf...

The "My Way" routes in and out of the area - I do end up talking to ARB if I am making the run around the bottom...
