First; my thanks an Kudos to Chuck and all the moderators for providing us with a great place to talk aviation. You have really done a great job of keeping this the Front Porch.
Second ;I think all of us have seen Medical Matters go down the toilet since Bruce left ( his insight was also valuable in other areas) Since the advice has left the posts have dried up. I for one would really like to see Bruce back. So the purpose of this post is a petition of sorts, that I hope Bruce will read, requesting him to come back. It is also a request of the Management team to give Bruce the last word as a moderator in Medical matters. ( You may have done so already, if so forgive the ignorance). If Bruce doesn't want to come back as a moderator I would still ask that he contribute to medical matters and other areas of the board as a member. ( It was great seeing his post in relation to John's Thread.) If you care to join in this petition please just reply with a short post below.

Chuck if you feel the need to move this to another forum thats ok. I just felt that this was the most logical place to post this.

I would like to wholeheartedly agree with Adam's requests - both to Bruce and to the POA Management team.

We want our Doc back.

Not just for medical stuff either. He's also a gold mine for practical aviation and a generally all around good guy.

I concur! Dr. Bruce gave me great advice on the plane buying process when I bought my first plane.

I Agree with all that has been said, Dr. Bruce has helped me with advice as I struggle to get my medical back after 45 years. I think it is a age thing and lack of knowledge of some uninformed specialist's.
Dr Bruce has always went out of his way to help out.

Hope he will return, I will buy him one or more at Gastons, I intend to be there even tho it is my birthday.

Well this is certainly the easiest thing I've had to decide on today. Yes, let's do whatever it takes to get Bruce back!!

I miss his expertise as well but let's all stand back a bit. I don't pretend to have a clue to what happened nor do I want to know. What is, is. Our petitions are not the proper avenue to seek redress, let the parties involved make their amends and decide from there. I say that out of respect for all parties and would not dare to try to influence their decisions.

Agree.....but still....

Please Doc! We could use your help!

What ever it takes, lets get him back. Bruce, you are missed and have a lot of people here that want and need your expertise. So, PLEASE come back.

I understand your point Richard and it is well taken. My post was designed to ask two good camps to see if we can't get one of them back. I place no blame and infact state that I am VERY apprecitative of POA management. I just think that if someone didn't take the intitiave then the parties may have no incentive or desire to make it work much to the detriment of the members of POA. I'm not even suggesting apologies just suggesting a mulligan if you will.

Guess it's my turn, Bruce we want you back at POA,but if you decide not to return i will understand. I really miss your posts ,and knowledge and not just on medical matters.

I had not posted to say anything after you left, Dr. Bruce, as I did not know the full story and felt I was not in a position to say anything.

But there was one thing that I did want to say, and didn't get the chance as you left right when I had my last medical.

Thanks. Thanks for your help with my recent diagnosis of Hypertension and thanks for walking me through what I needed to get to get my medical. I went in with the necessary documents in hand, and I walked out with the medical, clean, no problems. And that was primarily "your fault". I can't thank you enough for your help.

I think most, if not all, the members here would really like to see you back posting. You have helped so many of us "over 40" types get and keep medicals. I can only thank you directly for your help in my case, but know many here feel the same way.

Plus, your knowledge of flight, and extensive experience, always added to the Cloudbusters section of this forum. I particularly enjoyed reading posts from someone who has shot approaches in the Rockies, in actual.

I'm not always comfortable posting on the "red board", and will post stuff here that I prefer not to post there. It would be great to have you back.

I respectively disagree. There is nothing wrong with hoping and expressing he'll come back to POA. We're all adults here and can make our reasonable thoughts known. Thanks for starting this Adam.

Just received a very kind email from Bruce. Unfortunatly it does not look like what I had hoped for will happen. So friends it is time to move forward.

Jim B.

Glad to see your note .

I feel the same. Dr. Bruce is a very special person who loves aviation and has been a real big help to all of us. His enthusiasum of flying and planes remimds me so much of how felt and still today feel about flying and aviation He has been so helpful to me as well. I do hope some day he will come back here.

Best John

Good point.

But it is a personal matter. For all I know it could be a combination of things and the 'POA incident' was the last straw.

It would be very easy to imagine a busy DR being stretched too thin. Even the best need some down time, to pull back as it were. Giving of yourself is a comendable thing but it takes a lot out of a guy. Didja' notice the little jump for joy happy face where the good doctor mentioned he was past pres of Life Line? That kind of volunteerism is draining. I suppose he found it very rewarding but I know the joy that comes when you remember you don't have to go to that meeting tonight or take that phone call or prepare that report or all the other duties of the office. Of course I'm speculating but I have seen it happen--being stretched, that is.

Obviously I missed some big stuff in my abscence from the board, but I just want to say Thanks to Dr. Bruce for all he's done here and elswhere for aviators. He was a huge presence here, and was immensely helpful to many. Can't blame us all for wanting more I suppose, but lets remember how much of a burden all that giving can be to one person at the same time. He has done us all a tremendous service, we owe him a debt of gratitude that will not be repayed.

Fly well Dr. Bruce, and smooth clear skies to you where ever you go!

I feel like I'm on AOL in the old days, but ME TOO ! :) It's one of the reasons I still frequent the "red board" is Dr. Chien insight not just in the medical arena but all the topics.

Dr. Chien has been a great source of knowledge on both boards throughout the years for both medical and general aviation topics. However, by being both a resident expert and a frequent poster he has also been involved in some unpleasant situations, again on both boards. If he chooses to sit back and observe (or not) for as long as he wants, that's fine with me. When he wants to participate again, he will, and he will certainly be welcomed back. All of us that have been around for a while know how to contact him if we really need his opinion or recommendation on a medical matter, and in his absence we can certainly help new board participants find him if they need to.
