"Started up and ran away." Sounds like a hand-prop incident.

That's what I was thinking, was he trying to pull it out by the prop?

Pulled the prop through a couple times to move some oil around, doesn't realize mags are on, hilarity ensues?

That's my home field, I know the pilot and have flown with him. Haven't heard what happened yet. He almost always has his dog with him in the plane, wonder if that's a factor.

Dog wanted to go solo?

"the plane was coming out of the hangar when it powered up and got away from the pilot"........hate when that happens!

The news report said the pilot was in the plane, so doesn't sound like a hand propping incident.

The quotes read like similar quotes from articles about various, usually accidental/negligent, shootings.

"... And the gun went off."

Nah, somebody pulled the trigger. Might not have meant to, but they did.

The plane powered up as it was coming out of the hangar. Had to be the dog.

Except that it went downhill...sounds to me like the reporter doesn’t doesn’t understand gravity and made something up.
I thought the news was always accurate :)
