................me? I am looking for a list of persons who have been knighted, and by whom.

For instance, I flew Sir Harry Garner, an aerodynamicist and chief scientist for the ministry of supply in WW2. Who knighted him? Who else did they knight?

I flew him in my Super Cub!!

What kind of knight? Order of the British Empire? German? French? Templars? Of Columbus? Other?

There have been dozens of orders of knighthood over the centuries.

When I hear of knighthood, I always picture the scene with the line "look you stupid bastard, you've got no arms left!"

I may not have an appropriate appreciation for the various processes, ceremonies, and decorations.
