Just passing along a tip. Pilots are mostly senior citizens and we tend to need vision correction.
I am always using the bottom of my shirt to smear whatever oil smudge is on them from a pinpoint to smudging the whole lens.

while fighting to get my glasses clean a few days back an angel on earth handed me what looked like a handy wipe that they give you when you order the good wings.
couple swipes and my lenses were crystal clear.

He gave me a couple to take and I gave one to my wife and she says "Holy ****! These are great"
I now have a 400 pack in my bathroom and little stacks of them in every room.

Couple swipes on the glasses, then bring it over to the phone and ipad before it evaporates and I live a smudge free life.
At any rate, if you are frequently fighting with getting your lenses clean, these are better than your shirt or whatever else you are using so smear your DNA all over your lenses.

I have the same box. It's massive and I depend on these for any glass cleaning.
I stuff a handful in my flight bag every month, and I keep another handful in my computer desk drawer.
Can't have too many of them!

I have literally known about them for 5 days and they are in every car, bag, flight bag, bathroom, my wallet.
Alcohol is amazing!

I wonder how many it would take to clean the entire plane.....

They sell these in Walmart too. I keep a box in my hangar, but always forget and use my shirt anyways.

I have a couple of boxes full of these. Have been using them for a year. Work really well. I always through a few in my carryon bag when traveling.

Damn you
Here I am trying to keep my flight bag de minimus, now I’ll have to buy & carry these too.
Will alcohol wipes work, I have a limitless supply of those.

For glasses, I prefer a drop of dish soap on the lens and "scrubbing" the lens with my fingers, then rinse and dry. IMO, works better than lens wipes.

I use the Zeiss wipes too. I tried Flents "Wipe 'n Clear", they kind of suck.

At work they provided boxes of Bausch & Lomb wipes, they work great. Now that I'm retired I guess I'll have to buy them myself.

Same.
And the effects seem to last much longer.
I can go days to a week between cleanings with dish soap.

(Which isn't to say it isn't worth having a wipe or two strategically stashed for emergencies.)

Microfiber towel works great and I already have a few small ones in the plane. I’m more comfortable saying “I have a towel” than “I carry wipes”.

If you wash your shirts with fabric softener, it is impossible to clean a lens without smudging.

Yes, this. In the absence of a clean cotton cloth, Dyson hand dryers in restrooms work pretty well for blasting the water off.
These are alcohol wipes
Tip for those of child-rearing age: never mix up alcohol wipes with baby wipes.

I've got a bino harness that I wear on my chest while hunting. Have a handful of the Zeiss wipes stuffed in a pouch. Harness sounds better than fanny pack.

you still carry wipes. no amount of hunting can man-up that fact.

We buy the 3 box pack from Costco. I have these things everywhere...cars, airplane, flight bag, desk, night stand, end tables. :D I can't stand smudged glasses.

I've been carrying these in my flight bag for about 2 years now. Not for my glasses, though. To clean smudges from the avionics screens in club airplanes.

I like not having scratched up expensive binos. Something you absolutely will do carrying a microfiber snot rag that is like a magnet for the fine New Mexico dust.

I do however carry TP and not dude wipes. It's one thing me and the bears have in common. We both **** in the woods.

We get a big box of those at Sam's Club whenever we need them.

They do better for me than the little spray cleaner and microfiber cloth combos.

Hot water, Dawn detergent, and fingers seem to break through a lot of the gunk that collects around the edges where the lenses meet the frames. That stuff tends to smear around, even with good wipes.

Optician I knew used to call that stuff “opti-goo”

I do the same, but it doesn't last even a day (Dawn). And, I DO NOT touch the glass on my glasses. I've tried microfiber, pure cotton, lens cleaner, and more--for years. I've considered cutting my eyelashes, but I think the root cause is whatever biological compounds are carried by evaporating tears. This is similar to why the inside of your windshield acquires that foggy film even if you're not a smoker. All the volatiles we exhale condense on the glass.

I ordered a box of 80 of the Zeiss wipes. Thanks for the tip. If they work, I'll buy a big box.

I have glass lenses, so I can use my red handkerchief to wipe the sweat off my forehead, blow my nose, and clean my glasses in one smooth move.

Yeah, if you have access to running water and something to dry with, this is definitely the way. I use the foamy hand soap instead of dish soap, but that's a detail. Both do a great job.

I have them for my glasses because they are convenient, but I agree with the crowd that says a little dish soap and a micro fiber cloth is better.

But be careful with Ipads and some other types of touch screens. The alcohol can damage certain ones. My wife was going to use it on her IPAD Mini 7 but she looked it up and it said to NOT use alcohol.
I'll be happy if someone wants to prove her wrong.

I use the Zeiss wipes too. I tried Flents "Wipe 'n Clear", they kind of suck.
I've used the "Nice 'n' Clean" ones as well as the Wipe 'n' Clear both mentioned in this thread already.

Nice 'n' Clean are just OK but seem to not always have enough moisture in them. Wipe 'n' Clear seem to have too much, they'll sometimes leave little rows of droplets on the lenses that I have to wipe off with a dry cloth.

I will definitely be trying the Zeiss ones next! Thanks @SixPapaCharlie!

I didn't think flying eyes ever needed to be cleaned and they gave you bionic vision and also like and subscribe?
That’s the Grande Epaulet version.

I seems like Flents uses 70% isopropyl and Zeiss uses 91% or better, just judging from the droplets the Flents leave behind. The Zeiss paper seems to clean better too, though. I keep the remainder of the box of Flents in the workshop for occasional/emergency use, but the Zeiss get used daily.

My wife uses Kimwipes and spray cleaner from the optometrist - free refills of the little spray bottle, at least until they figure out we're not buying our glasses there any more.
