Daily Pic

There was a time those "children" in the CAP did 90% of all search and rescue in the United States.
The five years I spent as a CAP cadet, I logged 275 sorties on nearly 100 search and rescue missions. The experience served me well went I went into the Air Force during that unpleasantness in South East Asia.

The times they are a-changing

Puttering about the sky.

C-130's and C-17's on the tarmac at Stewart Field (SWF).
The flight was from DXR (Danbury) to MSV (Sullivan County International Airport), and return. There is a joke in there, if you work at it.

Is that one of the jump planes?

Thought you were in the middle of an annual?

Yea it is. We put the doors on to travel with. Annual is done. We are ordering some parts and will finish it up later this week.

Flew to lunch from Camarillo to San Luis Obispo and a quick out of the way path to fly over Morrow Bay.

That's a sweet looking Caravan. I definitely need to find some time to go up with you.

Did a Hudson River trip two weeks ago. Here are the pics.

1. NYC from 8500ft
2. Lower Manhattan looking north
3. Closer view of Lower Manhattan
4. Back side of Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty

Great trip! Next time I'll do the Skyline route. I think being higher up would provide a better view of the city (and traffic).

Awesome! I'm planning to do one this summer a friend from France. Should be great!

My passenger was someone who had done the trip several times in the past and could give me pointers along the way. We decided to overfly the Bravo at 8500ft (coming from the east) and descend in the area of the SPARTA VOR. This gave us a fantastic view of the city and I would recommend to anyone who is doing this trip. There are jet routes on the TAC near SPARTA so be mindful of departing traffic if you're not talking to NYC approach (we weren't).

We had lunch at Greenwood Lake (4N1) after we flew the river. Great little field with the Lockheed Constellation on site. They've stripped the guts out, but still fun to see. No landing fee and the food was tasty. That will be my go-to stop next time I make this trip.

Flying out to Montauk(MTP) from Farmingdale(FRG), Joshua takes the helm. He was pretty excited that he actually flew the plane for a minute:)

In case Captain/redtail wants a somewhat-shoddily stitched together version to show him someday.
