I had a leaky CA-1550 Curtis fuel drain valve on my gyro and swapped it out with one from my bench stock. When I had one swapped on my Warrior maybe 10 years ago by my shop while I waited, he charged me $13, I think, for the part.

I went to order a spare from Spruce to back up the one I just used and they’re now $66!!! Did they switch to making them from Palladium or something?!?

Looks like all suppliers and all similar valves are in that price range.

It used to be that they were so inexpensive it made little sense to overhaul them (by replacing the O ring). That’s definitely changed. I guess I’ll pick up some $5.70 O-rings next time I order from Spruce.

Any clue what drove a 5-fold increase in price?

IMO it started over 6 years ago when we were dealing with covid.
I am sure you noticed everything cost more now, lots more in some cases like yours.

I think he gave you 1980s pricing on that one 10 years ago. I had a bucket of those that were new military NOS for pennies on the dollar. My guess is current price reflects more the decreased market for those valves than anything else.
