zip point shi-, and falling. getting worse by the day and much worse than the red board when it was shut down.

Read it for entertainment, but not for anything else.

When you do ask a civil question they will attack you either because you are too stupid or tell you some thing that was never asked, or the thread creep will carry one 100 pages of how bad you are for not knowing.

Welcome to the internet. Please enjoy your first day on the World Wide Web but be sure not to spend too much time here.
PS Experimentals are bad.:rolleyes2:

That's a stupid, ignorant thing to say.
(sorry; I couldn't resist). I do see your point, but I don't think it is that bad yet.

Tom, phone's for you. It's the Pot.....calling you black.

Seriously, funny to hear you complain about it since you are just as guilty of the offenses to which you speak as the rest of us here.

Well at least your being entertained.

The red board has been shut down?
Not in a while, that I know of.

It used to be the yellow board - then was shut down for a looong time, eventually was resurrected as the red board with a whole lot more oversight.

Well, we certainly aren't as nice as we once were. It seems that we have a lot more people here now who've never met anyone else on the board. Back when Gaston's was bigger, things were better!

We should talk more about Cool Places to Fly (and do more of it) instead of b*tching so much.

True. It seems this place has swayed more toward keyboard super heroes battling over how to read regs rather than anything actually related to flying.

I guess it's the nature of the beast when things get bigger, they start to lose their personality.

Agree with the notion of talking more about cool places to fly.

Folks, it is real simple:

If someone shows up and tries to trash the waters by being a jerk, "Bad-Post" 'em, and teh MC will deal with it.

We cannot and must not "patrol," exercising thought-police discretion; but, if someone (1) violates the RoC by being harsh and unreasonable, and (2) is flagged by an attentive PoA member, we can then take action.

:rofl::rofl: Reminds me of the other day when Rotor&Wing posted basically the same thing...

This is exactly what makes POA one of the better forums. There is moderation to an extent, but there is no hint of heavy handed moderation common other places or where management controls what can be said and what can't.

Trouble is, being a jerk is not in violation of the RoC ...
I'm not going to bad-post a fart; but I wish I could.

True, but it is really easy to put the jerks on 'ignore'.

The real jerks/trolls tend to be easy to spot over time. Truth be told, while a couple of people have come close, I have only ever felt the need to put one POA member on my ignore list. That to me is a good indicator of the overall value of this site.

Very true....I remember a guy a while back who bashed Jesse, me and a few other folks by making rude comments about gays or something. About 50% of his posts I found rude and offensive. The mods took care of that jerk pretty quick.

Well,,,, maybe if it gets posted it will get talked about and maybe just maybe some will give it the attention it needs.

this board once was the place to be, not so much any more.

I'll wager it would come to a screeching halt if you were required to use your real name.

It's not just "bad" posts though, it seems that anyone posting a thread these days is liable to be told "that's a stupid thing to do" by somebody, without directly calling the person stupid.

Sometimes it really is, but there's an awful lot of "don't ever do that or you'll die and we won't mourn you" rather than "That's generally not a good idea, and here's why, and if you're going to do it you'd best be sure of at least these things."

This has to be the most self serving thread I've ever read here.

Ignore doesn't kill the stench the jerks leave in their wake.

But, hey, I'm glad to know this board is working for somebody.

I here there's this place called the Purple Board where the faint of heart tend to go. I understand that they serve a nice Chardonnay when you arrive. ;)

Name's Amanda Hugnkis, nice to meet you.

Screeching halt? Not likely. It might reduce some of it, but I have seen plenty of pi$$ing matches on forums like Beech Talk where you are required to login with your real name.

And besides, I've gotten into it plenty of times here with you and you know know my real name.

Perhaps, but you will find that on almost every aviation forum around.....with the exception of WIX where anything that isn't part of the party line is instantly deleted. Moderation nazis.

But seriously, when someone starts a thread like 'hey guys, I'm looking to join the mile high club.....any suggestions?'.....I don't think that merits a "That's generally not a good idea, and here's why, and if you're going to do it you'd best be sure of at least these things."

Which is true?

Tom has been called a pencil whipper, or Tom called some one an anon expert?
Who makes snide a$$ remarks like Brian is my son? Or I'm the wrench god?

Yeah It's all my fault.

This page has already lost Dr. Bruce, how long before others get the same idea?

Didn't say it was all your fault by any means, just that you are guilty of many of the behaviors you are complaining about.

You don't like being called a pencil-whipper, but how many time have you called R&W a fraud just because his perspective doesn't jive with what you think should come from the FAA?

Funny. Conflict is the basis of all plots. Since Homer, probably before. People only ***** when their personal threshold has been exceeded, of course those people exceeding others threshold is fine. How people grow up to be pilots and not have thick enough skin for the internet is a mystery to me.

The signal to noise ratio has waned somewhat over recent times. But there is still plenty of useful information come and going that makes being here worthwhile.

True, but it is really easy to put the jerks on 'ignore'.

I can see entire threads on POA where the various people on my ignore list go at each other.
The problem with the 'ignore' feature on POA is that it still shows me that the jerks posted something and that if someone quotes the jerks their drivel still shows up in the quoted posts.

Naah, I'm talking about the ones where someone asks a question and some 80-hour wonder know-it-all spouts off what his 300-hour-wonder CFI told him in training as if it's gospel.

Of course, it's made me a better poster - Now, I try to relate what in my experience has led me to my conclusion. Sometimes I still learn from those more experienced than I as well, which is a large part of why I still come here. Unfortunately, some of our most experienced members have left.

The same number he has had the chance to prove me wrong.

If you think something is out of line then report it. As Spike noted earlier in the thread, the mods don't read every post.

You guys are very fast... Yesterday I did it to suggest a post should go in the Spin Zone, and as soon as I'd done it and it redirected me back to the thread, it was already there!
