Is this essentially the same content as the online course, but just in person? I would love to go to this but doesn’t look like schedule will work.

Can’t comment on this vs on line. But I prefer in person.

I've gone twice when they were held in SoCal. Really outstanding program. I learned something new each time.

At least when I went, one of the best parts of the program was the end of the second day, when we went out to the local airport, uncowled a 182, and Paul did some hands-on presentations. Just a great program...

I did the course 20 years ago when John Frank and gang were still teaching it. Very, very helpful for any 182 owner. And yes, the poor "victim" plane in the hangar during our session had some expensive "issues" to deal with.

does anyone know if they do these in person annually or bi annually? I would love to go but no way to make schedule work.. hopefully they will have another one in the future

CPA Members,

CPA has received numerous requests for our Legacy 182 Course on the West Coast. You asked and we listened. This course has been scheduled for October 17th - 19th in Corona, CA. Below is information on the course and how to register.

If you have any questions about the courses or locations, you can email
Kris Long directly.

Update. Had class the past weekend in Jackson TN; about 30 people.

A lot of material covered, very glad I went.

Simple things like what all needs lubrication like pulleys, door hinges, aileron hinges, etc, where they all are, and what lubricant to use. A few more detailed items like the rigging process, what wheels to use and avoid, what spark plugs to avoid, and many more items.

Lot of discussion on engine management for example. Coming out of that, I’m now in the hunt to add an engine management instrument with more details than what I currently have. I’ll check them out when I’m at Oshkosh.

Net net, highly recommend this class.

Addendum:

Trainer was highly experienced, does monthly podcasts with Mike Busch, etc. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/podcasts/podcasts/ask-the-a-and-ps

A few of the “the earth isn’t flat” type of points brought out:

- No such thing as shock cooling.
- The order doesn’t matter when increasing or decreasing RPM or MP.
- Over square the MP over the RPM as much as you want.
- Fuel bladders are more reliable against leaks vs wet wings.
- If need to move the prop, always hand turn the prop backwards and it won’t accidentally start.
- Need / imperative to have an engine monitor that can give you each CHT.

I'll be flying up to MKL at the end of this month for the later model 210 course. I completed the online version prior to buying a T210N but am looking forward to the in person course and having Paul give my plane a once over under the cowling.

I believe he is even more of an expert on the 210. You’ll have a great time.

Tip - bring a highlighter. They will provide a hard copy of the materials (small phone book sized). I could have made good use of a highlighter vs only a pen when taking notes.

Also, bring your tie down straps and chocks. Jackson airport doesn’t provide them.
