Copying / re bearing clearances

So far, i've only flown out of KSRQ. Right now, Clearance Delivery and Ground are on the same channel. My flight school has a template to use for your kneeboard that really helped; i've since made my own. You get used to it after a few flights.
 
Clearance Delivery is also a great frequency to use to ask questions about airspace or local procedures, etc...

This is good advice.

Sometimes a quick chat with the CD guy will help you more than all of the preflight planning in the world. Just don't be totally unprepared.
 
Get and use a kneeboard. I have a set of standard calls and responses for ATC on mine. I also use it to make notes when given clearances and squawk codes.

Sometimes I make a sheet with frequencies, runways, pattern direction etc if I plan to land at more than one airport.
