Never gave it much thought but makes sense. Cross wind in the Virgin islands today.

I bet his feet are getting tired.

Maybe cross current? I assume you’re not under sail

No idea how this works but maybe current. The boat is 16 stories tall so maybe wind is a factor too. Definitely tracking a different way than it's pointing. Also we're in the Bermuda triangle so u it could beat sorcery as well.

Figure the broadside square footage of that sucker... I'd bet my rudder pedals wind will affect it.

Or a trick of the picture? Not everything on those ships points straight fore & aft.

Yeah, but on Disney ships, the rat guards on the anchor cable face the other way....

My vote is for perspective, not yawing in the wind.

No sign of yaw on our Viking (non-Bellanca) cruise in the Caribbean.

That’s why you stay in the adult only half of the ship ;)

Be more subject to analysis if the photo was from the the aft deck and show the centerline of the ship relative to the wake. The Pax don’t seem to be experiencing much wind.

How do you tell? Lack of ballooning in the back of their pants?

I figure if a 200000 ton cruise ship is forced to crab into a crosswind, said crosswind might have some effect on a 200 lb cruise ship passenger:D.

    Cheers

They really ought to check the rigging. Maybe they've got a worn-out bungee or something.

Sorcery. That's good -- I gotta remember that, for when I do my next IPC and I wander all over the place.

Proof the earth is flat...and what’s with Captains charging money to visit the bridge? Maybe I should charge people to visit the cockpit!

Is it an Azipod equipped ship with a pod shutdown or reduced propulsion on one side?

I suspect it’s all about current. The water you went through and disturbed moves sideways with the current. For instance, if you drove a boat directly across a river, it wouldn’t surprise you to see your wake going downstream.

Oh, dang. You got me. This is like that treadmill thing, isn’t it?
