Pilot did a great job says me. I'd like to know who bolluxed the maintenance so badly that the wheel fell off. Not exactly a high-tech linkage.

Couldn't have worked out better I think I wonder how he knew it fell off.. Did someone watching call him and say that over the radio? Imagine hearing that being in the plane?
He had a lot of time to sit around and think he was probably going nuts i dont think they wanted to run the fuel i think they wanted him to get so tired of circling hes like the h*ll with this lets just get down..

Can't believe he stuck around for so long in the airplane. I'd be out of that cockpit so fast there would be wake turbulence for the guy coming in behind him.

Took forever to shut down the engine, too. I'd have pulled the mixture, hit the switches (master and mags) and been gone in a flash.

14 hours isn't crazy at all if you're crewing a strategic bomber in the 1950s.
