I would think that firing those guns in flight would stop you dead in mid air...similar thing happened in the days of WWI fighters, albeit on a smaller scale.
That's how you get it slowed down when you land.

Er, all of those pictures are computer generated... Take a look at the people getting in/out of it for confirmation.

According to the both references in the thread, they actually flew that thing for a little bit.... WOW!
All three are faked. The original that did exist wasn't nearly that big and had only (!) seven engines. See the pictures in the two linked articles.
It's amazing what they are doing with lego's. LOL
