Good thing to keep it going then. Polyps can be tumor precursors. Their presence is a risk factor. Better things to die of than colon cancer.

I can understand him not liking to do negative tests. You get zero benefit, and you undergo unnecessary risk, but you can't know that until retrospectively. On the other hand if you do have an adenomatous polyp removed, you might have actually prevented cancer, unlike say mammograms, when they lie to you telling you getting one will prevent cancer.

Today was the day. Prep yesterday was a nothing burger. I had something called Suprep or something like that. Two 6oz bottles. You pour one bottle into a cup and add water to make 16oz total, slipped in a couple of Crystal Light Pink Lemonade packets. Then you have to drink 32oz of water in the next hour. You repeat that four hours later.

Actual procedure was great. Got my IV in, wheeled into the room, two syringes and it was nightly night. Woke up with my wife next to me and about 5-10 minutes later I was dressed and headed to Cracker Barrel. Never felt foggy all day. We went out and did some shopping in the afternoon. Felt like I could drive, but didn't. One polyp, see you in five years.

Same here, and I've had 3-4 now, 5 years apart as my mother had cancer. Last time 4-5 polypus taken out. No after affects at all. They say it's the only cancer you can prevent. I don't know if that's factual, but the odds have to be pretty favorable if you have it.

Mine wasn't that bad. Found that the gallon of prep stuff....if I mixed it with clear broth and heated it, it was much better than pretending it was some sort of cold beverage. Woke up in the middle of mine. Was kind of interesting to see my innards 'live' so to speak. I remember asking if I prepped properly. I was concerned about them finding bits and pieces. The Dr was pleased with my efforts, he said some people don't do as thorough a job. :) Then I went back to sleep. Have to have another one in about two more years. yay.

What was really cool was I got two pages of color pictures, showing various spots in the colon. It was very pretty. hahahaha

I hated the prep, and I still have the second bottle of gatorade I bought for it. I don't know that I'll ever drink that stuff again. And holy cow was I groggy afterwards. That, and the whole no eating thing really put me off it. Then again, my doc said I'd do it again in 5 years and he's probably right. Bleech.

The prep doesn’t bother me(yet), we’ve all been there before. Everyone here seems to be eating in front of me? I’m ‘on deck’ 0915 tomorrow. That IV can’t come soon enough.

I want a 6 pack and then that IV!

O.K., back, 1st meal already eaten. As you veterans said, it was mostly a non-event. The prep was a pain, IV no biggie.

I was in a state of translucency, somewhat aware but no worries while they did their thing.

They had a few things to deal with, but generally nothing beyond the normal.

Borescopes are for looking at cylinders. I'll be damned if any doctor will shove up my a..

After being diagnosed with colon cancer having a resection a temp ostomy a reversal and after a year still learning how to poop believe me you would eat your words if you went thru what I have

Timely resurrection of the thread. I'm prepping for one in the morning. The prep procedure is an improvement over my previous ones. No raw veggies, for three days prior, liquid diet today, 32 oz. of the stuff at 5:00 this evening and 32 oz. at 5:00 am. This time the stuff doesn't taste bad. My first one was done with Fleets solution which was OMG bad. Got to go!

Just went through my first colonoscopy since my resection of 12 inches of colon over a year ago last week, again no biggie, no food for 24 hours but clear liquids are ok, BUT nothing colored red
Drink 10oz of Magnesium citrate and then 64oz of fluid with Mirilax
There were no Large explosions major accidents etc or problems that would require reporting.
Yes a little sore from the cheap toilet paper available but still NO BIG Deal
One issue was drinking that much fluid in that short of time made me feel bloated
The next day you have your procedure they put you to sleep and after you've waken from a short nap
then you are off and can grab lunch.
Just FYI in social medicine countries ie. Canada you are awake during the entire process as anesthesia costs the govt. money.
Its no big deal, It just burns me to hear grown people whining about the test and prep.

I only have one regret, that I didn't do it earlier and I wouldn't have lost that over a year of my life time with the colon resection, temp ostomy and related money issues due to no work, medical bills.
Then inactivity complications and a year from my family because I wasn't able to live a normal life during radiation, kemo and surgical recoveries.
Not to mention I'm not the same guy I was 3 years ago and now I've got to jump through hoops to get my medical back.
Now I go to the cancer hospital every 3 months for surveillance tests etc to make sure I'm still clean.
Its possible they could have removed those polyps and life could have just went on with a small inconvenient test that would have only been a day without food and a couple extra trips to the head.

I'm seeing the guy tomorrow for the consult. I imagine I'll be scheduled within a week or so.

Sept. 7 because he doesn't come to town but every 3 weeks. :(

If you hear that then the anesthesiologist is playing a little too much “some for him, some for me...”

I was waiting my turn and overheard the nurses, more than once, complain about patients that needed to be rescheduled because of improper or incomplete prep.

I got the Suprep. I hate it. Last time I had the oral sodium phosphate. It was much better.
