Cockpit Voice Recording Reconstruction

Yeah, now we can't look at any NTSB reports until they curate them.

What was the value in printing these spectrographs in the first place?

For some reason the NTSB has been publishing a visual representation of cockpit audio, which (duh) can be analyzed to produce the *actual* cockpit audio. Scott M tweeted about it and the NTSB shut down their docket the next day.

Thanks @Bell206. I read the video description, which stated (among other things), "Within 24 hours the entire NTSB archive [sic] was shut down."
Dockets are currently not available but final reports are.

Nauga,
who understands why

The docket archive has been at least partially restored.

Nauga,
and an overnight sensation

I read a lot of NTSB reports, and the cockpit and ATC transcripts are quite informative w/o the ghoulishness/voyeurism of a computer generated re-creation of the conversation itself. There should be some decency in review of these aviation tragedies. Look at Juan Browne or Scott Purdue as a good example of using incidents as learning opportunity vs. many or most of other ytube talkers..

I agree; transcripts can be very helpful. I'm never going to unhear that helo vs cirrus so I'm happy to never listen to tape again thank you very much.

Yeah in AK a DC6 fueler loss a couple of years ago was on ATC and was very hard to listen to.

And even that poor young man “sky king” who managed to fly a q400 for 70 minutes and did a barrel roll, with no formal flight training. He had folks who loved him.

I’m not excusing the theft. I was sad after listening to the comms.
