Long Gun: Ruger 10/22 cant go wrong with it

Truth!

I got a GoPro Hero3 Silver. Has WiFi built in and I can compose the shots (or, at least make sure the camera is aimed correctly) using my Nexus 7 tablet. Look out. We get some flying weather around here (don't hold your breath) and I'm going to play with flying videos. :D

Watched the last half of RED SLEIGH DOWN, that is one sic series....

New 5 lb tub style sausage stuffer ... and a bunch of reloading components that just happened to fall into the Cabela's on-line cart to pad the order up for free shipping.

I got a new radio for my ground-based vehicle... it has a USB port for my phone or an iPod (either one) so you can listen to music instead of being at the mercy of whatever is on the radio. :D Also got a Pandora bead... the last one I wanted to finish filling my bracelet... it looks perfect now! And a cross stitch kit with my dog Nikki on it which I want to make into a pillow when I finish the stitching, and a new mug and coaster for tea at work. And chocolate truffles which for sure I DON'T need, but I'm going to try and make them last a LONG time.

One of my sons who is currently living in Poland sent me a sealed-in-box Klimov fuel control unit, for the engine in my Mig15. The Mig has not flown since the post-restoration test flight was terminated due to a small fire, some 20 years ago. Apparently my son wishes me to return it to flyable condition for him sometime before I die or slip into dementia. I was thinking I might leave it instead to Jeff since he developed such an attachment to it the last time.

Ask him to send you a bottle of Zubrowka!

I bought him (us) a set of Indian Clubs in walnut and maple and he got me (us) registered for a Certified Indian Club Specialist workshop in March.

These are MUCH nicer than the black plasticy training ones.

I am so jealous! I've been trying to learn to juggle just three beanbags with no luck.

1. The bill to repair the car
2. Paid the ticket for the accident the car was in, which necessitated the repair
3. Still haven't seen the bill for the overhaul of 4 new cylinders with 50 hours on them
4. Still don't have the airplane after almost 4 months of dealing with overhaul shop (which denies any and all responsibility), the cylinder manufacturer (which denies any and all responsibility) and the local shop doing the work.
5. Still haven't seen the bill from the attorney about our conversation concerning the overhaul shop's attitude and refusal to honor the warranty
6. Hoping that I can get the break-in (again) on the engine before the end of January when I need the BFR.

And that was my Christmas. How was yours?

Even the dog got more and better presents than I did. His favorite is the (relatively) indestructible alligator with two, count 'em TWO! squeakies!

Bah Humbug.

Seriously thinking of selling the cherokee and taking up knitting. Cheaper.

I thought my neighbors didn't think much of me, just a cranky old man at best. Christmas morning I found gifts from them, bags of cookies and candies on my doorstep, one from each of them...it made my whole day.

I ate some of them already, and no, none of them contained rat poison.

Was the attorney able to get the shop to do anything about it? Unless it took longer than 1 year to get those 50 hrs on that rebuild, it seems you could have recovered up to $10k in small claims court without an attorney.

Sorry to hear this sort of stuff.

I had what I thought was a very ethical dealer try to charge me $17k for work that did not need be done. I told them to buttin it up and push it out front. I got 2nd and 3rd opinion both saying the first shop's opinion was hogwash.

Unfortunately alot of mechanics are really just outlaws.

I must have been really bad this year, this was the worst Christmas I have ever had.

It has nothing top do with bad or good, the older you get, the less you get, until you reach the point that a few small bags of cookies and candies makes you feel as good as the long ago Christmas morning you woke up and found a Radio Flier under the Christmas tree.

Probably slipped happy pills into them....;)

In Colorado, small claims must be filed in the county of the them, not me. Which is a political disaster, hence the chat with the lawyer. The result (and both lawyers are also pilots) is my bank account takes the hit. There's no way to prove anything. The only satisfaction & warm fuzzy I have is the growing vocal opinion of many people and A&Ps in the area that the overhaul shop has gone downhill over the past few years. Very few locally are willing to patronize them any more.

And the 50 hours were flown in much less than a year.

Wish I'd known this 18 months ago.

I got a Brightline. Wasn't sure it would end my years of searching, but after putting everything in it and finding I had a place for everything with space left over, I was impressed.
They truly are portable holes.

Make sure to mind the instructions about not feeding it after midnight or getting it wet. You'll be finding new zippers all over the place.

I got an Electronic E6B and a copy of 16R from my sister. My wife and I agreed to buy something for ourselves that we wanted...she bought herself a treadmill, I'm intending to buy a Glock 17 or XDM9 for USPSA competition shoots. Wish I would have made that purchase 2 weeks ago! Glad I bought more 30 round P-Mags for my AR a few weeks ago...they have quadroopled in price in the last week!

LOL! When I opened the gift my first impression was that this was going to be another link in the long chain of flight bags (reference to Jacob Marley) that I had made. I have been through at least 7 bags over the past 25 years of flying. The biggest problem has been the changes in aviation (paper to iPads, mechanical E6Bs to calculator type to iPads, portable GPS). It looks like Brightline's approach is to give you lots of zippers and a design that can be reconfigured. Time will tell, so will the zippers (lots to break)!

..

Let me guess.... The new Firewall Forward overhaul place ???

A20's, 64gb SD card for gopro, jeans, shirts, jacket, some other stuff, and flying money

Who is the shop? My friend had new engines from Western S In Colo. and they had troubles you wouldn't believe. Personally I do not believe in paying for a signature brand rebuild shop.

One of my nieces gave me a Casio wrist watch that has altimeter, temperature and barometer readings. I've had it for 24 hours now and still haven't figured out how to set the date and time. I think I'm going to have to take night classes for a week to learn how to operate this darn thing. :dunno:

No shooting toys for me, although my youngest did include 400 primers in his gift. The aviation related items consisted of a kerosene heater for the garage (where I'll be building the plane), and a Van's toolbox kit to practice on. Sweet. Now the tool buying begins in earnest.

I believe, trust me.

You give that thing to me and I won't make the same mistake again. Next time I won't put it down in a place that anyone can get to it to put out the fire.

Bison Grass Vodka! Very good.

I love it!

The first time I had it I was in Torun, and they gave me a mixed drink. Green apple juice and Zubrowka on the rocks. I was skeptical...and it quickly turned into one of my favorites! Mmmmmm...

Learn to juggle two with each hand first. When the bag in the air reaches its peak, throw the other one. Three with two hands is easier than two with one hand.

Because of the less than ideal timing of my work week, we just got around to having Christmas at my in-laws' yesterday. Just wanted to share a favorite gift my brother-in-law received:

Better late than never??! Just wanted to share. LOL.
