Sorry about the earlier premature post - here's my question if you are still here:

On the chart supplement page for SFM runway 07-25 has inverted PAPI light (P) symbols. It's a black circle with a white P, instead of a white circle like runway 14-32.

The chart supplement legend page 13 (pg 14 of the pdf) says this indicates pilot controlled lighting.

My question is simply: is the PAPI for runway 14-32 (and all runways with the normal (P) symbol) always on at night - or can it just "not be turned on" at night?

I assume the former but I also heard a saying about people who assume things. I am prepping for my first night flight so I am open to any other tips you would like to share!

Thanks

If it's a normal P, then that just means the lighting is not pilot controllable. If that means it's not on all the time, then there should be a remark in the Chart Supplement. It is fairly common for PAPIs to just be on 24/7. For things like MIRL and REILS, if they are not pilot-controlled, then they are often set to come on automatically at night.

That makes sense - thank you!
