Our 175 came to us without a headliner. I’m going to install one, but don’t have the wires (bows) that support it. Some of them are available from Air Power, at a very high price. Anyone have a source for these?

I think I’ve got a pretty good idea as to why there is no headliner. The ceiling has black foam insulating panels attached - made by Selkirk, I believe. It looks like those panels would block the headliner rods from going through. I could trim the panels to allow that.

Interestingly, there is no logbook record of the insulation being installed. It’s possible that it was done prior to 1969, as the first logbook is missing, but not too likely.

That looks like some really nice insulation panels that fit well, I would not cut on them for headliner bows.
Make custom bows that clears the panels?
Is that possible?

Seems like the perfect use case for an owner-produced part as long as your A&P is good with it. From what I can see in the photo it doesn't look like that insulation should be a problem. You may need to trim a little where the bow is retained by the clip, but it shouldn't interfere with the headliner itself.

Was there other trim installed except for the headliner? Is it your intent to install a complete trim kit in the cabin?

Everything else is there - sidewalls, doors, carpets, seats. I ordered a kit from Airtex for the seats.
