Cessna 210 down near Camarillo. Tail number N9735X. Anyone have any info on this?
The 210 has very little wing dihedral, and Cessna recommends not running the tanks below 1/4 full. Any uncoordination in the pattern can unport the tank in use.Fuel management? I always find it a bit suspicious when the engine suddenly stops that close to reaching the destination airport.

Exactly my first reaction. No fire. The NTSB report will be interesting.Fuel management? I always find it a bit suspicious when the engine suddenly stops that close to reaching the destination airport.

I see some staining on the concrete flowing away from the airplane. Granted it is not a blue stain, but something moved across the pavement. No signs of gas leaking from an upside down airplane.... The pilot community in general really needs to do better.
No apparent effort by the fire department to keep anything from flowing into that canal, either.I see some staining on the concrete flowing away from the airplane. Granted it is not a blue stain, but something moved across the pavement.
EPA said that's ok now.No apparent effort by the fire department to keep anything from flowing into that canal, either.

If, indeed, this was fuel exhaustion, it's probably a classic case of get-there-itis. Late in the day. Rain in the forecast. Again, assuming fuel exhaustion, there were several potential stops along the way where he could have taken-on fuel. BUR, WHP, VNY...to name a few.Alphabet soup should be able to figure out if they took on gas in Vegas, and go from there. Wouldn't be the first time people play FAFO games with the fuel-guessing normalized by the crappy fuel qty tech. Not condoning bad ADM, just saying I'm not cynical enough to accuse the usual suspects of pushing range in the presence of a carat flashing red saying "ya ain't gonna make it".
Gotta give him credit...he stayed calm, even when he knew he couldn't make the runway.
About four minutes in the pilot declares he lost an engine.
Soon he radios that he won't make the runway. Soon enough the controller calls out that radar coverage was lost.
Serious injuries but all survived. Hope this was not the result of a stupid pilot trick ...
