Now I know who's been digging up my freshly-plantd plants. I thought it was a squirrel or a chipmunk, but I was wrong:

The repellent from Tractor Supply actually works reasonably well, but I hadn't applied it to this particular spot.

The kitty got in a fight with one of those once.

And only once.

Someone has to feed your wildlife.

These animals are either really dopey for not being afraid of me, or smarter than I give them credit for because they know I'm not going to break out the shotgun over a few uprooted plants.

I was mildly concerned that Stinky here was foraging in the daylight (which is one of the possible symptoms of rabies), but it was still pretty early in the day when that picture was taken, and I think the long winter just past has the critters hungrier than usual. Stinky should try a few yards over where the mint is planted. There are plenty of earthworms over there.

I used to see those things when I walked home in So Cal. They were really brazen, too. I did manage to bullseye one with a little toy slingshot I picked up in Guatemala. The skunks weren't as a group any more wary of me after that, but there were a lot of them. Maybe that little fellow was but the others took his place. Can't really tell one from another.

I had one come into my tent on a campout years ago. I just froze until he left. Then I made sure the door was really zipped up. The last thing I wanted to do was have that sucker stink up the tent and everything in it.

Racist!!!

Had one of them "kitties" walk out in front of me on the Gold Wing in a curve. I didn't hit him and he spared me. OTOH, a squirrel wasn't so lucky. Got him dead center with the front wheel.

That would be it's last meal if I was there. Skunks are the debil!

You don't tug on Superman's cape. Actually, a skunk makes a good pet once you fix them.

One of my teachers in HS had one that was de-scented. Problem was, he didn't know he was de-scented and would pee on you occasionally. He was fairly tame though.
