Can I regain instrument currency in IMC, if the right-seat pilot is current?

I don't meet the requirements of having intercepting/tracking, holding, and 6 approaches within the past 6 months. But I do have those within the past 12 months.

So I need to regain my currency.

Can I go up in actual IMC, with an instrument rated pilot next to me (who is current), to perform the 6 approaches and whatnot, to get current again?

I know the flight is legal ... file an IFR flight plan, and the right seat guy is acting PIC. But if I'm on the controls can I log the approaches for currency?

There may or may not be an AoA indicator on board.
 
Yes, as long as you are at the controls. But after 12 months from your last currency date (i.e. not having those requirements within the last 12 months), you'll need an IPC from a CFII.
