Just checking. I think my plane is an amphib now.
I don't think so, but be sure to log it as an "Ice Lake" landing. Can't land a ASEL there in the summer time.
You can once...
You can’t log it as anything because you didn’t invite any of us to go with. Looks like fun!
You will have to wait until the ice melts before you can log it. The subsequent takeoff may prove a bit challenging.....
Ice is a form of water, so by my standards, yes you can log it.
Seaplanes don't land with the wheels down, at least on purpose...
Since his are welded in place, I’m able to give him a pass on that.
They are not wheels, they are inflatable pontoons!
airplane single engine ice.
This is March. It's the month that the pickup trucks and fish camps go through the ice when I lived in Maine. Check your insurance policy.
Check your assumptions of my precautions and check your assumptions of my risk tolerance .
Always gotta have at least one keyboard warrior.
But where's the (ice) fishing gear?
No point having an amphib if you aren't going to use it to go fishin'
There was no indication of your experience level in your post. Who knows. You could be the "Ace of the base" or you could be a low time pilot sincerely seeking advice. Dial it back. No indication of the date of the photo. What if it was real recent. Or two years ago. It could have been in Siberia. I would put my Champ an skis when I lived in Maine. Lake landings were a ball. I called it quits about March one. About the time that the first snowmobile took a dive.

Hmmm, what the....(looks closer)
I think I see a crack in your lower nose cowl.
Must be one on each side ...
I have the ability to see through the right side. Its a gift.
Oops! I keep forgetting that, "I'm a river thingy" you keep quoting ...
