Hello all,

I attend a college on Long Island, FSC in an aviation program. On my college's website, they claimed that my college has the largest aviation program in the Northeast. A NIFA article posted on Facebook claimed that we have almost 250 aviation students. I'm just wondering if that is really true of what they say or if they are exaggerating some information?

Does this goes for any colleges and universities, that one college could say they have the best X program in the region or state and another college could claim the same thing?

Can colleges/universities exaggerate their information?

Yes.

1st, you have to define largest, then aviation program, then Northeast. Then you get to figure out what year it was..

Ever seen those billboards where casino's all claim to have the "loosest slots"? They are all surveyed different months and in different denominations... No one reads the fine print, nor does it really matter.

Yes, colleges exaggerate. Especially on what the degree will really do for you.

They want your money above all.

Does a bear s$&t in the woods? :D

Every statement in a college brochure, catalog, web site, whatever is true in some regard. All that really matters is if you are happy with the education you are getting for the money you pay.

Cheers

If you're getting the education you desire and the costs haven't been misrepresented why would you care?

Yup, the integrity of the institution's management is not a factor. :mad2::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono:

Same answer as for the question "do advertisers exaggerate?"

Because that's what you're reading, an advertisement.

Maybe all of the students have a high BMI so they have the "largest" aviation program in the Northeast.:wink2: I work for an institution of higher education and like any organization they spin news.

It's okay, everybody does it! :mad2::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono:

My adviser lied to me... had to fill a course requirement, made one called "group diversity" sound like a fun exploration of cultures around the world. "You just watch videos about other cultures and take quizes on them, it's actually really fun."

Yeah... yeah... that's not at all what that class was. The only fun part was when the ulta-liberal professor tried to make this latino dude into a victim because people had made fun of his race. I'll never forget that...

"It's not that big of a deal."
"Oh, so you ran from those comments."
"No, I just didn't care. It's not that big of a deal."
